Aerobatics vs Simulator
A good simulator will teach you a procedure, a flow, an instrument scan and a decision tree. It will not teach you what your body does at +6G, and it cannot generate fear. That gap is the whole subject.
What a simulator does well
- Procedures. Checklists, flows, failure drills, radio work. Repeatable, cheap, pausable.
- Instrument flying. Scan discipline and approaches transfer almost completely.
- Scenario rehearsal. You can fly the same emergency twenty times in an afternoon.
- Geometry. You can learn the shape of a loop and the sequence of a roll without burning fuel.
None of that is trivial. A pilot who has rehearsed a sequence on a simulator arrives at the aeroplane knowing what comes next, which frees attention for flying.
What it cannot do
Load. No consumer or standard training simulator produces sustained G. Motion platforms tilt you to fake the onset of acceleration and then stop. There is no way to make your arm weigh six times what it weighs now without either a centrifuge or an aeroplane.
The physical effects. Consumer simulators do not reproduce the bodily loading of aerobatics. Visual disturbance under G is a warning sign to report immediately, not a normal training target at a fixed threshold. A simulator does not establish your medical suitability for a real flight.
Training purpose. The value of a simulator or aircraft exercise depends on its design and instruction. A consumer simulation is not a substitute for an approved UPRT course.

How to use both
The efficient pattern for a pilot working towards an aerobatic rating is to learn the shape and order of figures on the ground, including on a simulator if you have one, and spend the expensive time in the aeroplane on the parts only the aeroplane can teach: load, sight picture, energy management and recovery under real stress. Arriving with the sequence memorised means the first flight is about flying rather than about remembering.
For a participant the question does not really arise. If you have flown loops in a game and want to know what the real thing does to you, the answer is that the visuals are the part you already have and the weight is the part you do not.

Does experience in flight simulator games help on an introductory flight?
It helps you recognise the figures and reduces surprise about what the aeroplane is doing. It does nothing to prepare you for the physical load, which is the part people underestimate.
